Mangyan Mass Wedding in Naujan

February 14, 2012. The Municipal Government of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro conducted a Mass Wedding Ceremony officiated by Mayor Maria Angeles Caranzo-Casubuan on the Hearts' Day.Out of 58 couples bound by law on that romantic day, 55 are Mangyans from Alangan tribe-one of the Philippines aborigines who bore the marks of prehistoric Filipino cultures.

The program gave way to the tribal ceremony of the Mangyans before the main event of wedding ceremony was conducted right at the entrance of  Mena G. Valencia Gymnasium. Local folks, local and national media flocked the ceremony to witness the historical wedding ceremony.

The historic event is another mark of Naujan's timeline showing that discrimination of culture and social strata is becoming more obsolete in this town.
